Richard Benny – Earns £45 per hour

BennyADI300After doing plenty of homework on the companies available, I chose LDC because the people seemed more interested in me rather than just being another number. The training programme and especially the training material helped me to pass my exams and qualify as an ADI.

After qualifying I opted to stay with LDC as the franchise package couldn’t be bettered..

Siobhan Towell – Earns £32 per hour

SiobhanI have always been interested in driving. Over the years, myself and my husband took opportunities to attend off road events including karting and track days (both in our own track prepared car and higher performance track cars provided to us).

When I was made redundant, I decided to take the opportunity for a career change and do something I was interested in and enjoyed and that’s when I decided to become a driving instructor. I did my own research, considering other companies, but each time they fell short of what LDC could offer me. This included cost, level of support, course material, style of training, particularly for the Part 3, where I was paired up with another trainee who lived locally to me (we both still work with LDC and are now good friends), and opportunities once I had qualified. LDC also prides itself on maintaining a personal, yet professional relationship with you.

The course material is professionally put together and follows a logical and methodical approach through the process. Initially we are expected to work through Part 1 on our own, but at any stage if I had any questions or needed clarity I could always phone the training department at head office for advise or visit the online Forum. My personal trainer for Part 2 and 3 was very thorough, explained everything clearly and listened to me!

I have now been fully qualified for nearly 5 years and continue to be part of the LDC brand. Yes, it means a financial commitment that needs to be budgeted into my expenses, but I feel it is worth it, both in terms of maintaining a high and professional profile not only on the road, but also online, by way of the main website, my website and the online resources both for me and my students..

Trevor Pugh – Earns £30 per hour

TrevorPughDrivingInstructor300After numerous years working for big companies and managing a large workforce I decided it was time for a change in career and environment. I previously spent a lot of time managing, tutoring, and instructing staff on work related training courses so I felt working as a self-employed driving instructor would fit in well with my previous experience. I have good people skills, and the ability to listen to staff as well as creating a good atmosphere to work in, ideal for one-to-one coaching. I decided to join LDC because it was the most appealing company to work alongside. The company allowed me to run my business the way that suits me.

LDC provided support for me from the start with the excellent open learning package, then providing an outstanding personal tutor for the practical parts of the course. The delivery of the service both theory and practical was superb. The business Induction course was also excellent, enabling me to operate my own business efficiently and effectively. LDC ensured that every part of the learning process met with their own high standards.

I opted to take up the franchise as I found that the website, office support team, materials, and technical support was the best way forward to operate a professional business. Referrals and ‘word of mouth’ has proven to be a big success since I started a few months ago. My lesson diary has continued to fill up and I now have a small waiting list.

Thank you LDC for your support throughout my training and currently as I build a successful business.

Graham Lowe – Earns £35 per hour

GrahamLoweReview300When I decided to become a driving instructor I did a lot of research into the different companies. What made me look more closely at LDC was how they trained learners as I felt the LD System made sense to me and was the way I would have liked to have been trained so felt I could sell the benefits to others. The instructor training course was based on the same principles and approach, the home study allowed me to prepare for my in car training sessions and therefore make the most of this valuable time.

Before starting to teach we had a 3 day induction course at the head office which was invaluable in how to run your business correctly and professionally, and how to make the most of the LD System.

I have now been with the franchise for over 7 years now and it works perfectly for me. It allows me the freedom to build up my own reputation whilst having the benefits of their marketing expertise, brand name and most importantly the LD System as my USP to help me stand out from the rest.

Not only can I use the LD workbooks and DVDs but I can also sell them at a good profit, especially as they give me 50 LD workbooks a year worth £750 as part of my franchise agreement!

Steve Wilcox – Earns £32 per hour

SteveWilcoxDrivingInstructor300When I was looking for the right company to do my Instructor training with I was also looking for a franchise that would give me a professional image and provide good support to its franchisees and its students.

The main thing that attracted me to LDC was the personalisation of the driving school. The fact that I would have my own name and number on the car and also a personalised website was very attractive. At the time I felt it would help me to establish my own name for a few years and then I could go independent more easily. However the effectiveness of the website and the support I have received has made the monthly franchise cost worth paying and so I’m still here 5 years on!

Other key factors were the training materials provided for the learner, the LD System. This is an exceptional aid to training and coming from 30 years in business I realise the value of good course materials.

Instructor training
Again the materials provided for this were excellent and very extensive. I couldn’t believe the size and the weight of the package when it arrived. The one to one training regime was also another key element, many of the other schools were offering training on a two to one basis and that didn’t seem so appropriate to me.

Tuition Vehicles
Another factor that has been of value is the flexible approach to instructors cars, the cost of the BCR lease is keenly priced and the mileage is generous enough for my situation with a higher than average mileage, the discounts for outright purchase are also very helpful and the option for instructors to source their own cars is another big differentiation.

Denise Adey – Earns £32 per hour

DeniseAdeyDrivingInstructorReviewSmallWhen I decided I wanted to be a Driving Instructor I opted for LDC because right from the first interview I was made to feel welcome. Not only would I receive first class training but I could also become a franchisee in a nationally recognised network. Most of all, I wanted to be my own boss but at the same time have the backup of a successful team.

The learning materials provided by LDC were easy to use and, as a working mum, the flexibility of home study was ideal. The option of regular practical training sessions during Parts 2 and 3 fitted well with my other commitments and allowed me to prepare for lessons and consolidate on what I had learned. Extra in-car tuition was available when I needed it (for re-takes!) at no extra cost, making the training package very good value for money. Thank you LDC.

Sevan Aghajanian – Earns £30 per hour

SevanADI300When I first decided to become a driving instructor I researched the offerings from many driving schools, including all the major ones, and decided to join LDC. I have been a franchisee of LDC ever since. LDC did not present the least cost option but overall the best value.

On first contact, LDC felt friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and supportive. This is very important if you’re making a considerable investment and at a time when you feel vulnerable as you make a career change. The cost of failure is high and you need the advice and support of people you feel you can trust and who will do their best for you to succeed in your new career and business.

The first striking difference between LDC and others is their structured and transparent programme of instructor training so you know from the outset what you would be receiving in return for your investment and the approach that you would be using to teach learners once you qualified. Not only is this important as a yardstick as you train to become an instructor but also when you qualify and set up business to teach learner drivers. The organised and structured teaching methods and materials (the LD System) are invaluable in making your life easy as an instructor and also in presenting a professional image to the pupil, instilling further their confidence in you as a teacher.

The LDC culture is progressive and the company invests considerable resources in keeping teaching methods, materials and continued professional development courses at the forefront of the driver training industry. This was one of the significant factors why I decided to join and stay with the LDC. The driver training industry is highly competitive and continued development and change for the better are absolutely critical to remaining successful in this business.

Another significant factor for choosing LDC is the franchise model. Unlike other franchise offerings where you essentially melt into the amorphous pot of a large organisation as just another instructor, the LDC model allows you to operate as an independent instructor with your own website and freedom to source and retain the revenue generated from your own pupils, but at the same time have the expertise and muscle of a large organisation and the safety net of pupils sourced from LDC backing you. In the age of the internet, the website, social media and the advanced technology facilities provided by LDC are alone worth the franchise fee.

When you first set up business you are never sure whether you will earn sufficiently to cover your costs and make a living. Whereas other franchise operators require a high fixed cost base without the guarantee of pupil supply to cover the costs, the LDC cost base is relatively low and will only increase with the number of pupils they supply.  This is a tremendous help with cash flow and provides the peace of mind that costs won’t be high when business is slow.

So in summary, LDC is the perfect choice, you get a friendly crew who are there to support you and help you in your professional development and the growth of your business and provide you with the cutting edge technology and materials to compete successfully in this business at a cost that stays in proportion to the income you generate. What more could you want?!

If you are motivated to be successful you could not find a more supportive and progressive environment to train, develop and succeed than the LDC. I wholeheartedly recommend the LDC.

Justine Copping – Earns £30 per hour

I joined LDC after passing my part 3 elsewhere. How I wish I had trained with LDC!

The training I received on the LDC induction joining course was fantastic.I attended this 3 day course and immediately felt at home. The whole team are happy to see you and talk to you like life long friends. It’s informative, fun and provides all the assistance you need to set up your own LDC driving school business. Giving tips on gathering pupils, how to deal with your accounts and even how to book tests with the DVSA. The LD system of driving tuition is incredible. It works not only for pupils but for trainers too. It is easy to understand and Bob’s enthusiasm is contagious! I met with many different people on the induction from all over the country. Some trained by LDC, some with their pink ticket, others that had been with other companies and wanted a change.

The weekly fee is very competitive, but the website, student/instructor hub, Google and Facebook business pages are worth more than the fee alone. The business I get either directly or through HO is invaluable and is a great starting block until your reputation proceeds you. I have never felt pressured into taking extra clients and I run my own diary completely. The decals on the car are an invaluable source of business too. The assistance I have received from all departments is amazing, I can’t thank everyone enough.

If you’re considering a change in direction or just a different franchise then contact LDC, you definitely won’t regret it. I wish I had changed careers years ago.

Candy Roberts

CandyRobertsADI300From the moment I began my training with LDC, I was made to feel really welcome and valued as part of the LDC family; the staff at the Head Office could not be more friendly and supportive. I chose LDC because I was so impressed by their training materials, their internet presence and their whole approach to driver instruction. Becoming a qualified driving instructor was a challenge; when my progress through the qualifying exams took a set-back, LDC were amazing: encouraging and supporting me with remedial training to help me pass my Part 3 exam.

Having qualified as an Approved Driving instructor I was concerned about the logistics and implications of setting up my own business, but I need not have worried. I attended a 3 day induction course at Head Office which thoroughly prepared me for every aspect of running my own franchise. As I am not very IT-savvy, I was especially delighted by my website which LDC design and manage and have been encouraged to use my business Facebook and Google + accounts to promote my business.

During the induction, we were introduced to the LD system and shown how to deliver training to our students. The workbook and course materials are excellent: the lessons are carefully constructed with clear goals and targets to achieve. My students appreciate the sense of progress this gives them, and it makes lesson-planning much easier for me. I am good at working with people, putting them at their ease, so the student-centred approach of LDC really suits my style of teaching. The course materials are first-rate, and I know that my students really enjoy and appreciate them; they get such a sense of achievement crossing off completed targets at the end of each lesson and are always surprised by how much they have progressed!

I have been a qualified driving instructor now for 4 months, and am so happy and proud to have my own successful business. Above all however, even though it is my business, I know that I am not on my own; if I have any issues or problems I just pick up the phone and call LDC to be greeted with a friendly, ‘Hello Candy, what can I do for you today? How can I help you?’.

Steve Ford

SteveFordDrivingInstructorStudent300When I had made the decision to become a driving instructor, like most people I looked into the various training options. LDC were the only training provider that seemed to consider whether I would be able to make it. The others seemed only interested in telling me how much money I could make and how their company could offer a discount off their fees. Only LDC offered a sensible and realistic approach to how long the training would take. I was given honest answers to all my questions.

The series of end of module tests made sure that I made progress towards my Theory test in such a way that, on the day of the test, I did not expect to do anything other than pass. In fact I actually felt disappointed not to have achieved 100% on Part 1, the materials and support were that good.

My personal tutor for Part 2 and Part 3 was also excellent. He made sure that everything we covered was not only done to the highest possible standard but that I understood the reasoning behind each module. Even now, some two years after passing part 3, whenever we speak on the telephone or meet up at the local test centre, he is still offering support and kind words.

The Induction Course was, as with all matters relating to LDC, of the highest quality. The Trainers, because they are ADI’s, were able to pass on their knowledge in a manner which was both informative and practical and it was nice to be able to put faces to the names.

The materials provided to support me as an ADI, are second to none. The quality of the website is always commented upon by my learners.

Clive Turner

CliveTurnerDrivingInstructorStudent300I chose to do my driving instructor training with LDC because it was apparent to me that their programme is intended to prepare and assists you to become a successful instructor, with a viable business. It appeared that other providers were more focussed on making an income from their instructor training programme rather than facilitating an independent business plan for their potential franchisees.

LDC provided a comprehensive set of training materials, but, having not studied for 40 years or so, I did initially feel a little isolated and out of my depth. Once I got to know the team better I realised how much support and encouragement was available.

LDC assigned me my own personal local tutor to assist with my part two and part three training and I enjoyed and appreciated his like minded thinking, so much so that I am now training to undertake that same role.

After qualifying, and with 20 months of successful, enjoyable and profitable trading, I remain convinced that LDC have got it totally right. Their fees are modest and the ongoing support, advice and training make them undoubted value compared to their competitors.

Marie Haddon

Marie Haddon driving instructor training reviewI joined LDC after doing a whole load of research into all the different companies offering all sorts of promises and I can honestly say it has been the best experience of my life.

I received up to date information week on week on how my course would run and there was no pressure to finish any of the modules within a certain time limit, after all I still had a full time job to do. My work was marked very efficiently. I was then told how to proceed. Help was always available either by phone or on the net via the LDC student driving instructor forum which is set up for all the trainees just like me all going through the same experiences, Its a great place to meet and chat to others doing the same thing all across the country.

I was allocated my very own personal tutor whose help was fantastic and he helped me to continue all the way through my course. I can now say with great pride that I am now a qualified advanced driving instructor and the rewards are fantastic.

Every day I drive on the roads with my pupils, displaying my LDC driving school logos and my name and I just want everyone to see its the best driving school in the country, because believe me Only the BEST will do for LDC.

Gregory Worrell

GregoryWorrellADI300I was first attracted to LDC from the informative website and the positive testimonials from LDC driving school instructors. My interview was relaxed and friendly. The ADI training and support has been excellent, and my local LDC tutor Richard was a first class trainer.

Having qualified I originally intended to join the company for one year before branching out as a private instructor. However, the company has been so affable and supportive that five years on I am still with them and for the foreseeable future. The franchise is unique in that the instructors’ contact details and my LDC driving school website are displayed on the vehicle as part of the standard franchise car livery. My pupils have found the LDC Driving Skills workbook, which is included as part of the franchise fee I pay, to be very useful.

Gary Marsden – Earns £28 per hour

I almost gave up on my dream of becoming an ADI after a false start with a very plausible company called SMART DRIVING/DRIVE offering a course at £1,200. Being extremely short of money due to losing my previous business the low cost and the apparent guarantees proved very attractive. Excited I rang them and was offered an even better deal than the one advertised so naturally I signed up on the spot. After taking several months to complete all the written course work they need for Part 1 (it is very extensive) I was told I had taken too long under the contract terms (i.e. 4 months to complete a mountain of written course work exercises covering hundreds of pages of work) and would therefore not be entitled to receive the Part 2 in-car practical training unless I paid a further £560. I also had to pass Part 1 within 5 months or again loose all the practical training. Only then did I realise all the other clauses that also needed to be satisfied before you can get any practical training with a trainer and even then it had to be at a time and location to suit them! After all this work to say I felt disappointed and let down by them is an understatement.

Not able to find the money or really wanting to continue with SMART DRIVING or their so-called driving school DRIVE I was about to give up on my dream but I had noticed a company called LDC so I decided to give them a call. The very next day I had a meeting with them and they managed to reassured me that I could become an ADI with them on their Pay as you Train option. The help and resources at LDC were second to none and nothing was too much trouble. The one to one training for Part 2 and 3 was fabulous and the LDC online student Instructor Hub mock tests gave me the finishing touches I needed to pass Part 1 with ease – all the months of written work done on the SMART driving iCourse simply wasn’t necessary. Everyone at LDC was friendly and helpful. So after a not so SMART start I am now a fully qualified ADI and enjoying every day of the job thanks to all at LDC.
